Oh my, such excitement here since I won a bouquet of flowers today. It was a big day in Regina. 
The Saskatchewan Roughriders hosted the Western semi-final football game against the Calgary Stampeders. My son is an avid football fan and so I’ve learned way more than I ever, ever wanted to about football.
On the plus side, I get a lot of knitting done. It was the first time Regina had hosted the Western semi-final in nineteen years. So the city was abuzz all week.
Most weeks, after a football game, my son calls into a local radio show and talks about the game. This week, he challenged me to call and I took him up on it it. I know enough football lingo to sound reasonably intelligent and I managed to make some good points. My son was impressed because the announcers asked me for my opinion on something. Well, thankfully I could answer the question which escapes me now. I was then told to stay on the line because I won a $25 bouquet of flowers from a local florist.
It was a fun end to a good day. My parents had come over to watch the game. We had a delicious supper followed by a Saskatoon berry and rhubarb pie. It was delicious.
When my flowers arrive, I’ll post a picture of them. My multi-coloured scarf is almost finished and so is the Canadian football season. Thankfully …

You were very brave to put yourself forward on local radio, not something I could do, but well done to you. It was great to win the flowers for your efforts. I have just clicked on the link for Saskatoon berry, I didn’t know that us humans could eat Amelanchier berries, I know my blackbirds eat them off tree! x
Kate: Good Job!!! I know NOTHING about sports! If I thought that knowing something about football would get me a bouquet of flowers then I would pay attention! Can’t wait to see the bouquet! Now I am craving rhubarb pie. Never had Saskatoon berries but I do have some shadblows around so thanks for that edible info!

Hi Kate! I am totally impressed that you did the football interview on the radio — I love it! And congratulations on the bouquet of flowers — are you going to press them? I (and Moose, of course!) could really go for a slice of Saskatoon Berry and rhubarb pie right now, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I’ll have to settle for Pop Tarts. Sigh. Teeni – I never thought that I would find mysel learning about football. Worse, I have to try and keep Canadian and US football separate. There are too many teams! People guard their secret wild patches and hope they get there before the birds. Layanee – It’s amazing the things we do for flowers. Saskatoon berries are delicious. I love them in pies and jams! Cicero Sings – I was surprised that it was as easy to talk football on the radio. My son thought I did well and sounded as if I knew what I was talking about. Ahem!Mary – The good thing is that not many people I know listen to the football show! It wasn’t so hard and I was glad to have won the flowers. Lisa – I was lucky and I will post pictures. Saskboy – Why thank you – I was surprised that I won!Linda – The pie was heavenly and you certainly can have a piece of the pie. But hurry – there’s only two pieces left! I am going Saskatoon berry picking next summer. There’s easy access to rhubarb, but Saskatoons are harder to come by! Annie – It certainly does prove that – fresh flowers are a treat these days, especially when there’s snow outside. I’m not good at Trivial Pursuit though … I tend to be too vague.Clare – I hope the flowers are good pressing material. Lytton would tell Moose that the pie was really tasty – L. had some of the pie crust, which he loves. Yolanda Elizabet – It was a really good day- I couldn’t believe that I won flowers. I still don’t have the bouquet. When I receive it, I will post a picture.
